Teaching is always a struggle, I’ve planned to plan over the summer and the first thing on my list to tackle is STUDENT MOTIVATION.
What kind of work do you hate to do? What makes you like what you do?
Research have shown that people like work which stimulated their curiosity, permitted them to express their creativity, and fostered positive relationships with others. It was also work at which they were good. Naturally, work students hated will be work that was monotonous, not thought simulating, and forced.
Our job as a teacher, hence would be to help students succeed, arouse their curiosity and encouraging originality and personal expression.
Next year I’ll be teaching Secondary 1 and 6, it’s time to come up with some activities which adheres to these rules.
